HOW TO THROW A COOL DINSOAUR THEMED BIRTHDAY PARTY

Boys really love parties, and for dinosaur lovers (like my son) they will certainly want a dinosaur themed party.
In order to make this experience enjoyable for both my son and his friends there were a few simple things needed.  I did find it easier to list and shop without my son in tow.  My husband would not call me the most organized person in the world, but when it comes to parties, everything is organized and planned out. However as a 7 year old, he certainly has an opinion on what to include and what not to include for his dinosaur party. Because it is my HIS party, he should have a voice.

I usually hunt on Etsy for the perfect invitation.  But found some on Zazzle.com. Also feel free to look on other blogs (like my blog) for ideas. And of course Pinterest! I know often people use e-vites and that is fine too. It does save time of having to purchase stamps, address each invitation and then put it in the mail. However, I still like mailing them. Or you can have your son hand them out at school. Just be careful to not exclude others from the party. Or if you do--make sure that they aren't aware. Most teachers frown upon handing out invitations to a "select" few.

Thanks Zazzle.com and blovelyevents.com

Dinosaur themed party decorations are a must. They can purchased online, at stores and some can be easily crafted at home with craft paper.  As I have said many times before, I am not crafty but I often look on Pinterest on Etsy for inspiration. I love the idea of little boys stomping around in dinosaur feet and roaring. Watch out or T-rex! Or if that is not up your alley, perhaps a dinosaur mask, dinosaur bones or cast fossil.  I found all of these neat ideas here

At my son's school they have "healthy" parties only. I am not against fruits and veggies but I LOVE sweets and so does my son. So at his parties we tend to have a balance. There are fruits and veggies as well as chips, ice cream etc. The important part to having a successful party is the food!
Below photos courtesy of catchmyparty.com Be sure to check out the blow for other great food ideas.

Decoration can be any color scheme that your son choices.  We often stick with greens and blues.  Tables are covered and balloons hung. Putting balloons on the mailbox helps party goers know exactly which house is the having the birthday party.

Play dinosaur related games; like pin the tail on the dinosaur. This NEVER gets old! Provide them with digging tools so they can dig through rocks for a dinosaur bones and dinosaur treasure.

We all love party favors right? Party favors can include dinosaur toys, Dinosaur stickers, orange and green candies and balloons.  Or even dinosaur crayons! Making dinosaur crayons as party favors is simple and easy. Also others moms will thank you for not sending home "junk" with their son.
Here are step by step instructions:

In the end just make sure that your son has a great time! And so often as mom's we run around the party  trying to make sure everyone is having a good time, or straighten up, or breaking fights that we don't take time to relax and enjoy the party.  Make sure you take a moment to take a picture with the birthday boy!

The Best Gift Ever: Comfy Cozy Pajamas

The Best Gift Ever: Comfy, Cozy Pajamas

Are you stumped about what to get your little boy for Christmas? If you are like me you are. Every year I say I will know what to get him for Christmas and every. single. year I face the same dilemma of what to get him. Or maybe you are NOT like me and you already know what you want to get him! Then please can you make my a Christmas list for my son next year?! Please :)

I am sort of a clothing snub and junkie when it comes to boys clothing and dressing my son. So one of my top picks every single year is boys' Christmas pajamas. This is one gift that my son looks forward to every single year!
Giving pajamas to our son as a christmas present is classic and a tradition that and that I hope he carries on when he has children.

So why not get your boy pajamas? They are not only great to give, but also get to get. They ship and pack very well, which is an added bonus. When you purchase boys Christmas pajamas with a great Christmas theme, both you and your son or loved one will be thrilled. All these things and more (which we will get to in a moment) make these the ideal Christmas present, no matter his age, size, or interests. Plus, there are some new great designs that we absolutely love.

Why He’ll Love Them
The boy you have in mind will love Christmas pajamas as a gift. They are easy to care for, great to have for pictures, wear at bedtime, or just to wear around the house. You can purchase ones with their favorite Christmas figures or cartoons on them. You can rest assured that when you purchase boys Christmas pajamas that they will love this gift for many years to come. When it comes to a hot ticket item for boys boutique shopping, this is it. Your loved one will be cute, cozy, and comfortable in their new pair of Christmas pajamas. You may even want to start a family tradition of giving an item like this to them on Christmas Eve so they may wear them the next morning as you take pictures and shoot video of them opening other presents.

Why You’ll Love Them
Did we mention these are cute? Not only is that true, but boys clothing is a cost effective gift, and none more so than pajamas. You can purchase them in sets, onesies, and more. Even if you are shopping for a few boys, you can purchase these gifts online or in stores, then easily ship them to their destination, or easily put them in one single box for wrapping. Just purchase one in their favorite colors, prints, or styles. This might be the easiest Christmas gift ever.

Where to Find the Best Deals
Want to know where to find the best deals on boys Christmas pajamas? Start your search online. Not only can you find these on a variety of sites, but shopping online allows you to shop on your own schedule, compare prices, deals, products, and even customer reviews. Plus, when you shop online, you can have these types of presents shipped directly to you, or to your destination. Which for me is a perk as I do not LIKE the hustle and bustle of travel to and from stores during the holiday season.

I become very cranky when I am unable to find a parking spot. Ugh, the joys of circling and circling, searching for spot that is not 3 miles away! I want to sit in the comforts of my home( wearing jammies) and shop, shop, shop!  Some services even offer gift wrapping for a small extra fee, or even for free. What are you waiting for?! Start searching for the perfect jammies today!

Fall Memories

Fall is one of my favorite seasons. I love the changing of the leaves and how colorful they are and fall brings back memories of childhood.

My siblings and I lived across the street from our Elementary school and would play on the playground often. The custodial staff would either rake or blow the leaves into HUGE piles. The piles seems so high to us. We often found ourselves jumping into the large piles over and over again. We would giggle as we ran around and threw leaves at each other! The joy I felt then was sheer bliss!

Many hours were spent outside not only during fall but most seasons as well. As most of you know, it was fairly common for us kids back in the day to spend most of our time outside playing and hanging out with our friends.

I was sharing my childhood memories with my son the other day and now he wants a leaf pile!  The only problem is--we don't have enough leaves in our yard to rake into a good pile. The fact that we don't have enough leaves to rake makes my husband happy but it also makes my son unhappy.

I suggested to my husband that we can go purchase leaves. He thought I was crazy and told me so. Jumping in leaves is a rite of passage in my eyes and my son should be able to experience that. I may not win The Battle of "Purchase of the Leaves" but we will find a pile!

ENK NYC Part 1

I know it has been awhile since my last blog entry. Things have been super crazy and perhaps, I have been lazy.  Last month I headed to NYC to check out the Children's Club in NYC. I was super excited to attend but a bit nervous as well.

I had to register which I did with much enthusiasm I must admit!  While I was filling out the necessary information I was told that I would receive an email confirmation shortly. So I waited, and waited and waited. NOTHING came. So then I decided to contact ENK myself and they informed me that they did in fact send me an email confirmation.
Hmmmm...so off to check my spam email. Nope, nothing.  So what do I do?  I called again and was told the same thing. At which point I decided to leave it alone and pray to God (literally) that it would arrive. As you might tell, I was a bit anxious to receive my credentials. Finally a week prior I received an email letting me know that my badge will arrive shortly.

I was attending the Children's Show with a friend.  For the sake of this post, I will refer to her as G. G also owns her own business. We decided rather then drive ourselves, we would take the bus to NYC. No big deal as we have done this prior when we attended the Toy Fair in NYC .  After getting up at the butt crack of dawn ( I am NOT a morning person) I arrived 30 min. prior to the bus arriving. Yes, I am that person.  Like I stated, I was a bit anxious and wanted to make sure I arrived on time.  While I waited at the bus stop a lady approached me and asked me if the bus stopped here. I assured her that in fact it does. Several people arrived  and we waited.  While chit chatting to the lady standing next to me, I realize that my friend G has yet to arrive and the bus is due in 10 min. Now G is usually late, however after reminding her many times not to be late, I thought she perhaps would arrive on time.  A quick text to G confirmed my fear. She was running late and lost. In the meantime, we noticed that the bus pulled into the park n ride but it does not pull up to where we are standing. Uh oh!

I had just assured those standing around me less then 10 min ago, that we were standing at the right spot. I said as much with such authority too.
As far as I could tell, G had not arrived. I was torn. Do I leave her behind or board the bus? The thought of traveling to NYC myself was daunting, however the thought of not arriving on time, pissed me off.
So we are standing there and then realize that the bus is not coming over. At that moment I called G to inquire as to her whereabouts. She asked me where I was. What? I was perplexed for a moment. Where I was?  I thought, 'I am here where I was suppose to be ON TIME.'  Then it dawned on me. G was across the parking lot in the correct spot. I and the others were at the wrong location.
Okay, in my defense, that is where I have always taken the bus to NYC. Granted it had been quite sometime since I took a bus ride, but still! So because G was "late"(I mean her husband pulled his vehicle in front of the bus, therefore not allowing the bus to pull away before she boarded the bus) she held up the bus. Which allowed us all to trek across the park n ride to the correct bus stop.

NYC ENK here I come!

Great things are happening

July has been crazy and August will get crazier but we are excited at ForYourBoy.com
Marketing is important for any start up business and we are finding that it is harder then it looks.  We have contacted many blogs wanting to sponsor a post, do a giveaway or simply advertise.  Most bloggers have been responsive and some not so much. We also have to take into account that it is summer time and many are vacationing right now!

It is like a salesman. You knock on some doors and some shut in your face right away and others are kind and hear what you have to offer.
I must admit, I am the kind of person when someone comes to my door to sale me something, the door is being shut right away!

We teamed up with  princessamongsuperheroes.com  for a very first giveaway which was a success!  So thanks to Miranda over at PAS! I contacted Stacy over at Kids Stuff World  who has been fantastic!! You have to check out her blog.  She focuses on all thing kids of course. She took the time to write and article about our boys' clothing boutique

Also Heather over at mommy's favorite things has featured us. We are teaming up with them for their blog hop back to school giveaway. We are offering 2 lucky winners 25.00 store credit to shop any of our great items.

On a different not we are heading to NYC this weekend to the Children's Club show.  There will be many brands there that we would love to offer like Appaman, Kissy Kissy, Monster Republic and so much more. Hopefully I can post great news from this trip in the next blog post.
Until then!

Back To School For Your Boy

Back to School Time is Fun with Cool Clothing and Accessories!

Remember how when you were a kid, summers seemed endless? On the last day of school it was as if you had all the time in the world ahead of you to swim, bike, play ball and so on. I can remember becoming bored a few times, and by the end of the summer, I was excited with the idea of going back to school.  The thing that excited me the most was shopping for backpacks and school clothing. I mean really, getting new school gear, was the highlight of at the end of summer. Sort of marked the summer was officially over and the school was to begin.

Now, as a mom, it seems like school has just gotten out, and already I have to think about what to buy for my son in order to get him ready to go back school.  It is not even August yet.  He actually goes back to school earlier this year(before Labor Day) which has me scrambling to find great deals on boys' clothing, backpacks, and other school accessories that he might need. It is a good thing that I love to shop! I don't take him with me because he would mostly complain of being bored. I try to do most of my shopping without him or online!

If your son is anything like my son, he has likely outgrown all his clothes from last year, and even if he hasn’t, it’s fun to go back to school in new clothes! You can buy all sorts of boys clothing and accessories from our online boys clothing boutique – dinosaur shirts and hats, pirate rain gear, monster shirts, and so much more!

You’ll probably still have to go to the mall for school supplies like folders, binders, markers and so on, but if you need a new backpack for your boy to stow all that stuff in, our online boys' clothing boutique is a great place to find one. Our boys’ outer space backpacks are perfect for preschoolers and up to first grade. Measuring 12x10x4.5 inches, these backpacks are small enough that they won’t overwhelm a toddler, but big enough to hold books and folders, even an extra sweater and a lunch. And the space illustrations are pretty awesome!

For a bigger boy, the boys’ pirate backpack is perfect. It’s a roomy 14.5x11.5x4.5 inches. As a mom, you’ll appreciate the vinyl exterior and interior that’s so easy to keep clean. And your young buccaneer will feel like the hippest pirate ever, toting this skull-and-crossbones patterned backpack. Of course he wouldn’t want to lose something this cool, so there’s even a tag on the front zipper pocket where he can write his name!

Happy Shopping!

Let me Play

Let him play

Being a mom isn’t easy. It’s a full-time job, 24/7 for at least eighteen years. If your child is a boy, you’ve probably heard it said that they’re a handful when they’re young but they’re easier than girls once they hit their teens. That may or may not be true. What is known to be true, however, is that young boys really can be a handful. You may find that the early years are pretty difficult, but you know what? They’re not all sunshine and rainbows for your boy, either. He needs to play. Allow him to run, jump and explore!

Most young boys are very high-energy and become bored easily. While a girl may be happy playing quietly, boys typically want to run around, bounce on things and make noise. He can get himself into trouble, too – just needing to know what’s on top of that high bookcase and deciding to find out by climbing up the shelves. Give him and outlet and allow him to create. Put a puzzle together, body paint, or help him slay a dragon.

If your little boy is of school age, he may have a lot of pent-up energy from having to sit still for long periods at his desk. Smart moms know that the last thing they should do when he gets home from school is make him do his homework right away. Ideally, he should spend some time outside playing, burning off some energy before he gets down to the brain work. Or he could build things with his Lego, play with action figures, or work on a craft project. There will still be times when his inquisitive nature leads him in directions that might be destructive (racing around the house knocking over lamps and knick-knacks, for example), but with a proactive approach, those incidents can be kept to a minimum. Just be alert to signs of boredom, and use the opportunity to channel his energy in a positive direction.

For your boy, and for you, his childhood years should be happy and stress-free. A boy needs a little special handling, for sure. But even the worst days, the ones where you’re convinced that this little tornado is just never going to wind down, will come to an end eventually. And when he’s all snuggled up in your lap, wanting you to read him a story, that’s when you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that even with all the trials and tribulations, having this little guy in your life is just the best thing ever. Therefore let him play.

How To Make a Robot out of a Watermelon!

I originally saw this post via Spaceships and Laserbeams . They currently have great ideas for a robot themed party!

However this was originally posted on the National Watermelon Promotion Board. Did you know that there was such a BOARD for watermelons? Who would have thunk!!

I must admit it looks a bit complicated!! I am "crafty challenged" as I like to say :) However they do have step by step instructions here.  Also check out these great gift ideas for your boy.

Rainy Days Happen

Rainy Days Happen – Check out Rain Gear for Your Boy

Boys love to play in the rain, and usually they don’t mind getting wet. In fact, it’s a big adventure for them, getting soaked to the skin, pretending they’re in a storm at sea or struggling to find their way through a monsoon on an alien planet! But sometimes Mom doesn’t want her little adventurer to get wet, especially if she’s sending him off to school or daycare. That’s when rain coats and umbrellas are important, so he’s not sitting around in wet clothes all day.

Rain gear for boys needs to be utilitarian, but there’s no reason why it can’t also be fun and stylish. Our boys clothing boutique has a great selection of rain gear your boy will be delighted to wear.

It’s a universal truth that little boys like dinosaurs, so you can’t go wrong with a dinosaur umbrella. It’s strong and durable, and loads of fun. You can bet that your boy will love to carry it, and probably all his friends will want one as well. Or, if you’ve got a budding astronaut, blast him off to school in style with our cool outer space umbrella! And don’t forget the young pirate ship captain in your family – our pirate umbrella will keep him dry, unless he’s captured by a rival gang of pirates and made to walk the plank, in which case an umbrella probably won’t be much help.

For days when the wind is too high to make an umbrella practical, a dinosaur raincoat is just the thing. Your little boy will love the frolicking dinosaurs on the front of the jacket, and the stegosaurus armor on the sleeves is great fun - watch him lumber off into the rain, knowing that a bit of bad weather isn’t going to stop Dino Boy! Or if he’s more of a young Sir Galahad type, we have just the thing – a raincoat that looks like a suit of armor, complete with helmet and dragon!

Dinosaurs are not Extinct

Who said Dinosaurs were Extinct? Maybe the real Dinosaurs back in the day are long gone. However
as you look around, you see Dinosaurs everyday. Triceratops, Broncosaurus, Tyranasaurus, I could go on and on. We see replicas of them in Parks and Playgrounds for children to play on.

There are numerous cartoons and movies made about Dinosaurs. Remember the Flintstones? they had a dinosaur named Dino. Or how about Jurassic Park?  Children like the idea of dinosaurs. They are cool. They are unique. They aren't a dog or cat, something you see every day. Dinosaurs are different which is why they so popular today. Mainly in little boys. I haven't found a little boy between the ages of 5 and 10 that can't name at least 10 or more dinosaurs.

Dinosaurs make great gifts, from the plush stuffed ones right up to the hard plastic molded ones that
can be taken outside to play in the sand. A person can't go wrong choosing a dinosaur gift for a little
boy. There are so many Dinosaur products to chose from. dinosaur backpacks, erasers, notebooks and folders, for those who go to school.

When in doubt, there are tee shirts sold in all kinds of stores for boys, boutique clothing stores for boys and other places as well. There are dinosaur flip flops for boys , and other dinosaur apparel for boys.

Even little boys, toddlers and babies have a line of dinosaur clothing that have the dinosaurs on their tee shirts, shorts, pants, or pajama's. Of course the older boys have dinosaur pajamas too. Who wouldn't want to go to bed without their T-Rex pajama's on?

The market today has even cornered sheets, pillowcases, comforters, rugs and curtains to make up an
entire dinosaur theme in a boy's room. There are decals for the walls, lamps, nightlights you name it,
I'm sure it can be found. The most important thing is that the boys are learning about dinosaurs and that they walked this earth many, many years ago. It's a pretty neat history lesson to learn and a
unique way to learn it.

Boy Dinosaur clothing and accessories are not extinct!

Most boys love dinosaurs.  And most want to wear cool dinosaur apparel. Whether it's a cool funky t-shirt or hip and stylish shoes.

Let's face it, most boys love to get dirty. Running around the yard roaring at things or people. Heck just simply running around. As a mom of a boy who like dinosaurs--it was difficult to find stylish dinosaur clothing for boys. Most shirts had too much writing and graphics that it made it difficult to see the dinosaur. Or shoes would be plain white and have a single tiny dinosaur on the side.

After searching high and low, I have found that good quality boy's dinosaur clothing and accessories are not extinct!

In The Beginning

Hi, I am a work at home mom of one little boy. He was born with a connective tissue disorder. Working outside the house was not an option. So I decided to sell online. I started out with eBay, amazon and now I own my own site www.foryourboy.com .

Many boys go through various phases during boyhood. Some dream of being a pirate. Going off to find their loot.  Then you have those boys who love dinosaurs. They love to explore, dig and roam the house yelling roar!!! Some love monsters, airplanes all things boys.

I have found that there are very few website dedicated to boys. That is how I came up with the idea For Your Boy. A boy's clothing boutique for boys who love all things boys.
